Remember the Awesomeness of Everything

I recently did a reading for friend I knew from a “non-spiritual” context.  Another friend of ours had told her I do readings, and she decided to try one out.  In her journey, I came up with some very specific objects.  I described one of the objects in her journey very specifically, down to the pattern, colors, age, condition and type.  When she found this object the other day in her three dimensional life, she was flabbergasted.  She couldn’t believe it.  She couldn’t believe I could have described to her the exact object that she found.  Her reaction was amazement and awe.

And her reaction was a total gift to me.  It was a giant mirror held up for me.  Her reaction helped me remember the awesomeness of one of the skills I have been given.

Her reaction was such a genuine reaction of joy and delight, it brought me back to my own place of joy and delight.  It shook me out of my stupor of jadedness.  I helped me remember that journeys really are everyday miracles.  Journeys are amazing gifts from the Divine, like so many other amazing things we are given that we forget to notice after awhile.

Performing journey readings are one of my favourite things.  When I first started doing them I was often dumbstruck by the things I came back with.  My logical mind struggled with believing it was possible.  It took my mind time to adjust to the fact that I was given access to things that there is no “logical” way I could possibly know.  It also took my ego awhile for me to accept that lowly me, could be so lucky to be chosen for this gift.  For a long time, I was filled with a total euphoria that I was such a lucky person.

After awhile however, I got more used to doing them. While I still love doing journeys, and I’m still frequently amazed by them, I have accepted then as an everyday thing. Unfortunately this means I probably don’t marvel quite as much as I used to.

There are other amazing things I take for granted too.

I have the evidence of two kids in front of me every day.  But it is often hard to remember that these two were created from a Divine spark, which my body fashioned into new human beings. And yet there were days in my life when I could not believe that this miracle was not shouted from the rooftops.

I live in a place of natural beauty, beautiful trees surrounding me, and a stream nearby, yet I often don’t “see” them. And yet they were one of the main reasons I wanted to live in this house.

My point is my world is filled with thousands of tiny gifts, every day.  Many of these things are everyday miracles.  But after awhile we become used to them, and we can take them for granted.

Your world is also full of these Divine gifts, even if some of them may be hard to see.  Let this post be a mirror for you today. Look around yourself and remember what is fantastic all around you.  Go out and take off your blinders.

Look what YOU have!

Refresh your consciousness.  Remember those things you once thought.  Or truly look at for the first time, how much you really have: “OMG, I forgot how overjoyed I was when I had these beautiful children! “I can’t believe I don’t notice how astoundingly gorgeous that tree is!” “I’m so lucky that I live somewhere in the world where I have rights, food, shelter, money!”

And don’t forget what a gift you are to yourself and the world. “Wow, I forgot how good I am at what I do!” “I forgot how many amazing things my body does for me every day!” “It is sublime being able to smell the leaves on the breeze and the grass on my feet!””I love being able to love other people, and have them love m!”

I’m also going to spend today remembering the awesomeness of everything.  Care to tell me of any awesome things you discovered or remembered today?

P.S. Apologies to those survivors of the eighties for the gratuitous use of the word “awesome”, even though I have used it in its formal context…except for that once.
